The Han River Times: Our Pledge to Readers

On this day, as a new chapter opens for the Korean Peninsula and for the world, The Han River Times takes its first step.

A newspaper is not merely paper and ink. It is a mirror held up to its people, and a window through which a nation sees the world beyond its shores. We begin with this belief.

Where we stand

Rooted in Seoul, we look outward. The Korean Peninsula has long stood at the crossroads of great powers, and its people have learned that a distant storm can soon reach their own door. A decision made in a faraway capital, a shift in a foreign market, a quiet agreement signed behind closed doors: all of it may shape the lives of ordinary families here.

So we will watch the world closely, and report it honestly.

What we promise

We will report the facts before the opinions.
We will write plainly, so that every reader may understand.
We will question power, and credit it when credit is due.
We will tell the story of Korea to the world, and the story of the world to Korea.

Like the Han River that runs through the heart of Seoul, we aim to be steady, patient and always moving forward.

With the trust of our readers

A newspaper lives and dies by trust. We do not ask for it today. We hope only to earn it, one story at a time.

New governments will rise, alliances will shift and unexpected events will come. In each, we will be there.

This is only the beginning.

From Seoul to the world, and from the world back to Seoul, The Han River Times will report.
