ITL just ahead, DEM remains benchmark: A look at 44 currencies

The top of the MarketPro ranking is surprisingly close together: ITL comes to a normalized comparison value of 5.0537 DEM per gold, the Deutsche Mark to 5.0540. The distance is only 0.0003 DEM. But the further the overview reaches down, the greater the differences – up to a striking ZAR outlier. What does this ranking really say, and what orientation does it offer players with DEM balances?

A market stall, not a price history

The data was collected on October 16 at 17:03 CEST from MarketPro. The full call checked 45 currencies. At 44, both purchase and sale offers were visible; The UAH could not be classified due to lack of SELL quotation. In each case, the first visible offer pages were recorded. The result is a snapshot. Since there is no previous comparison, neither an upward nor a downward trend can be derived from this.

The ranking is also not a simple price slip. For foreign currencies, the normalised indicator aggregates the visible buy and sell prices and converts them to a DEM benchmark per gold. A lower value is more favorable in this comparison. But he does not say that a player can buy gold exactly at this price: price, available quantity and distance between the market sides determine whether an order is actually executed.

A narrow top field

The first eight places are all between 5.0537 and 5.1702 DEM per gold. ITL is followed by DEM, Denar of North Macedonia (MKD) with 5.0902, Polish Złoty (PLN) with 5.1298, Croatian Kuna (HRK) with 5.1376, Portuguese Escudo (PTE) with 5.1530, Swedish Krone (SEK) with 5.1571 and Egyptian pound (EGP) with 5.1702. Spain, the United Kingdom, Argentina and Greece are also close to the upper field in the first twelve places.

For Germany, the direct comparison is particularly interesting. MarketPro showed on the DEM purchase page 5,054 DEM per gold and 22 visible offers. The ITL is only DEM 0,0003 lower in the normalised indicator. This is a tiny computational distance – not a convincing reason to exchange DEM credit for a foreign currency just because of the first place in the table. The DEM side also has more visible offers than the ITL side: 22 offers to buy and 16 offers to sell DEM compared to 12 and 7 to ITL.

The opposite side of the DEM market offered 0.199 gold per DEM with 16 visible offers. The reciprocal value corresponds to about 5.025 DEM per gold. Together with the purchase quotation of 5.054, this shows the distance between the offer pages. These figures are not a commitment that a larger amount can be traded entirely at either of the two prices.

Where the distances grow

From rank 16, the indicator increases more significantly: Mexico’s MXN is 5.4561, the USD is 5.5038 and the Brazilian real is 5,5257 DEM per gold. Rupees from India and Pakistan are 5.7494 and 5.8217, respectively. From the Chilean peso (6,1505), the ranking exceeds the mark of six; KRW reaches 6.8147, IDR 7.1468, and PEN and GEL are around 7.41. The Turkish lira is 9.9419. These distances describe the normalized comparative value – they are not a direct exchange rate guarantee.

The upper values of the full overview also require caution. The JPY is 11.0750, AUD is 13.5044 and SAR is 15.1544. This is followed by larger distances, such as IRR with 23.1912, RON with 25.3264 and PHP with 43.6233. The ZAR value of 469.4805 forms the clear outlier of the ranking. For ZAR, however, only four purchase and four sales offers were visible. A thin supply situation can greatly distort a comparative value; the highest table value is therefore not automatically an achievable market price.

What players can take from the graphics

The close-up shows the twelve lowest values on a linear scale so that small distances in the peak field remain visible. The full graphics covers all 44 evaluable currencies and uses a logarithmic axis so that the large distances at the upper end remain visible. Both graphs show the same indicator, but with different scales.

For players who already hold DEM and want to buy gold, the direct DEM course remains the obvious reference: DEM 5.054 per gold on the visible purchase page. The minimum advantage of the ITL is not a reliable reason for change. Before an exchange, the current order price and the available amount in the game count. MarketPro provides a structured overview here – the last decision still depends on the actually visible order.
