India's national Gold reserves have fallen sharply over the past two days, according to treasury figures reviewed by National Chronicle.
On 5 September, India's treasury reportedly held 206.524 Gold. As of 7 September, the national reserve stands at 86.522 Gold.
This represents a decline of 120.002 Gold, or approximately 58.1% of the reserve recorded two days earlier.
The figures raise an important economic question: where did the Gold go?
Gold held in the national treasury is an important strategic resource. It can be used for government transactions, economic programs, military requirements and other national purposes. However, a rapid decline of this scale deserves public transparency regarding the transactions responsible.
National Chronicle is not alleging corruption or misuse of funds. The purpose of this report is to document the change in India's treasury and encourage the publication of clear information regarding major Gold outflows.
Citizens deserve to know:
What transactions caused the 120.002 Gold decrease?
Were the expenditures approved through the appropriate government process?
What value or assets did India receive in return?
What is the government's plan for rebuilding the Gold reserve?
A falling reserve does not automatically indicate wrongdoing. Governments must spend resources. But when a national reserve declines by more than half within two days, transparency becomes especially important.
National Chronicle will continue to monitor India's national treasury and report further verified changes.
