Serbia facing an internal crisis, tensions rising between PSS and SSL factions

The political situation in Serbia has entered an increasingly serious crisis in recent days following an open conflict between the two leading factions, PSS and SSL, which previously cooperated in governing the country. After a series of disagreements, mutual accusations, and insults, their cooperation has completely collapsed, and the country is now effectively divided into two opposing camps.

On one side stands PSS, a faction of old and experienced players that still possesses dominant military power through its MU organization. According to current estimates, PSS controls as much as 75% of Serbia’s total military strength. On the other side is SSL with its Guard holding only 25%, a faction of newer players that managed to take political control of the country and currently holds a majority in Congress with around 55% of the seats, while PSS controls only 27%.

Although SSL is currently governing the country on its own, it is clear that its political majority does not guarantee stability. On the contrary, relations between the two sides are becoming more tense every day, and political opinions are increasingly opposed, making it easy to conclude that the conflict could escalate into an open civil war with enormous consequences for Serbia.

Additional concern was caused by a public statement from one of the PSS leaders, Vaske, who openly declared that he has had enough of the current situation in the country. This statement can also be seen as a sign that patience among the old structures is running out and that future actions could further destabilize the situation.

The biggest loser in this conflict is neither PSS nor SSL, but Serbia itself. While the two sides continue their political war of nerves, the country grows weaker day by day. Internal divisions are already affecting the atmosphere among players, and more and more people believe that an urgent solution is needed to calm tensions and restore dialogue.

For this reason, I appeal to both PSS and SSL to open direct dialogue as soon as possible and attempt to agree on at least a basic framework for jointly running the country. Both sides should delegate reasonable and acceptable representatives who can calm the situation and prevent further escalation of the conflict.

I also call on all citizens of Serbia, as well as friends of Serbia, to help with mediation between the opposing sides. At this moment, the most important goal is to preserve the unity of the country and prevent a scenario of internal war from which nobody would emerge as a winner.
