Alexandria has returned to Egyptian control as fighting continues in Marsa Matruh

WORLD LENS — Warfare

The conflict over Egyptian territory has entered a new phase as Egyptian forces continue their campaign to regain regions currently controlled by Saudi Arabia.

The latest development came with the successful Egyptian recapture of Alexandria, following a series of battles between Egyptian and Saudi forces. With Alexandria now back under Egyptian control, attention has shifted west toward Marsa Matruh, where fighting is currently underway.

The Fall and Recapture of Alexandria

Alexandria became one of the key battlegrounds in the Egyptian campaign.

Egyptian forces launched their offensive with the objective of restoring Egyptian control over territories held by Saudi Arabia. After the fighting concluded, Egyptian forces succeeded in reclaiming Alexandria, marking the first major territorial success of the current campaign.

The outcome has given the Egyptian side renewed momentum as the conflict moves toward the western front.

Marsa Matruh: The Next Battlefield

The war has now reached Marsa Matruh, where Egyptian and Saudi forces are engaged in another series of battles.

So far, the Egyptian side has taken three rounds, compared with one round won by Saudi Arabia.

The current score therefore stands at:

Egypt 🇪🇬 — 3

Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 — 1

While the results currently favor the Egyptian forces, the battle remains active and its final outcome has yet to be determined.

A War Far From Over

The recapture of Alexandria represents a significant change in the territorial situation, but it does not bring the conflict to an end.

For Egypt, the immediate objective is to continue its advance and recover additional territory. For Saudi Arabia, the battle in Marsa Matruh provides an opportunity to halt the Egyptian offensive and maintain its remaining positions.

The coming battles may therefore determine whether Egypt can maintain the momentum gained in Alexandria or whether Saudi forces can stabilize the front.

World Lens Assessment

The Egyptian campaign has achieved an important objective with the recapture of Alexandria. However, the ongoing battle in Marsa Matruh remains unresolved, and the current 3–1 round advantage should not be interpreted as the final result of the war.

With both sides still engaged, the situation on the western front remains fluid.

World Lens will continue monitoring the conflict and report further developments as they unfold.
