COMMON RESISTANCE
WHY MARIGHELLA IS OUR SYMBOL
Memory, courage and revolutionary commitment
Among so many names in the history of Brazilian communism, Carlos Marighella It occupies a particular place for the Communist Resistance.
We chose Marighella because her trajectory represents, for us, a fundamental characteristic of revolutionary militancy: the willingness to dedicate one's own life to the transformation of the society in which one lives.
Marighella was a communist, political leader, writer and one of the main figures of the resistance to the Brazilian military dictatorship. His trajectory went through different moments of national history and ended in 1969, when he was killed by agents of repression.
It is impossible to understand your life without understanding Brazil of its time.
A MAN FROM THE DITADURA
After the 1964 coup, the space for political action was progressively reduced.
Prisons, censorship, torture and political persecution have become part of the Brazilian reality. After the AI-5 in 1968, repression became even more intense.
It was in this context that Marighella began to act in resistance to dictatorship, subsequently breaking with the direction of the PCB and following her own political path.
Killed by the dictatorship, Carlos Marighella is an example to us all.
Why did he represent us?
Marighella represents three elements which we consider fundamental.
1. ORGANISATION
Marighella did not understand social transformation as something produced spontaneously.
His trajectory was marked by political organization, study and attempt to build a force capable of intervening in reality.
2. RESISTANCE
He continued his political activity even before repression.
We must recognize the extent of his political commitment and follow his teachings.
3. COMMITMENT WITH SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION
Marighella devoted much of her life to the idea that Brazilian society could be transformed.
For us, this provision remains a reference.
Why is he in our flag?
Marighella represents for the Communist Resistance the idea that politics should not be an activity distant from the reality of workers.
Its name reminds us that certain generations faced a dictatorship and believed that society could be transformed.
Brazil today is not Brazil of 1968.
The political, economic, technological and social conditions are different, but require concrete actions as well as those of Marighella.
An organization that simply repeated methods of another era would no longer do what Marxism itself demands: to analyse concrete reality.
Marighella can be a reference without turning into a recipe.

Because he decided not to remain indifferent to the society he lived in.
